Home Improvements and Contractors :(
We have had a string of bad homeowner mojo lately. It started with our pool, we lost water here and there all spring, until we decided we had to replace the pool liner. Then last Monday we went to Sam's to stock up (we have a bad habit of never quite getting to Sam's, and just ordering out). Last Tuesday we had a horrible storm (hail, 70 mph winds, etc). A block or so up our street a tree took out some power lines, so we had no power for a day. Wednesday night our power came back on, but some of our food didn't make it :( Perhaps our refridgerator isn't 100% anymore, it is 13 years old. Thursday the ice maker quit. Friday night we came home and realized the house was hot.... ummm yeah, the a/c blower seized up. The earliest a repairman can come is December, oh my bad, next week. John borrowered a couple window a/c units from his sister and installed them Saturday. The one in our bedroom did well all weekend, now it sounds like a tractor trailer is idoling in our bedroom. The one in the familyroom not so much. Only because our downstairs is open, so this poor little engine that could is trying to a/c the entire downstairs and that just ain't happening. But hey, it's better than nuttin. Last night we came home to an answering machine message... the pool peole would be here at 7am to install our new pool liner then 2 tanks of water were coming to fill it up. Hmmm, that was scheduled for next week too. Apparently someone else got a call that said, sorry your pool liner didn't come in and we aren't going to be there tomorrow, yikes :( John had to go to work today so I got up at 6am, showered, got dressed, and here I sit at 7:40 waiting for the pool people. The pool place is 5 blocks from my house, so I'm sure it's not rush hour traffic holding them up :)
Which brings me to the important question...
When a contractor schedules you for a time frame (8-12, 1-5, or my personal favorite dawn to dusk), have you ever been the first appointment?? I have NEVER been, nor known anyone that had repair people show up first thing.
I do realize in the big picture, we are great, we have our health, NO WAIT! I am still nursing my pinched siatic nerve and John needs 2 root canals :(
On a good note I had leftover Chicken Quesadillas for breakfast this morning!! Ah the joys of being an adult, lol!!
Here's hoping the new pool liner & repaired a/c doesn't cause Mother Nature to freak and dump snow on us :)
